A Note from Jackson, 27 October

26.10.22

Dear Grif-friend,

Howdy, my name is Jackson, and I am the Box Office Manager here at Griffin, popping in for my first ever Griffin News. I have had the opportunity to speak with many of you who have visited our beautiful theatre recently. However, it’s been a HUGE year at Griffin, so this is the first chance I’ve had to introduce myself here. So, hello!

Recently, I have spent most of my time building the ticketing side of our productions for 2023—processing subscriptions and exchanges and generally being a point of contact along with my front office colleagues, Kate and Nathan (and on occasion, Spicy the cat, our loveable sometime intern). I also worked with the inimitable Mel Ree as dramaturg for her production of Mother May We as part of our Griffin Lookout program, which was a deeply rewarding process and a wonderful show! As an artist, getting to work behind the scenes at Griffin has been such a thrill.

I feel extremely proud of the new Australian work that Griffin has presented this year. We often talk about our position as a theatre of first chances, and I think the productions in our 2022 Season have spoken for themselves. Our theatre on the hill has been bursting at the seams with bold performances, gorgeous design, and courageous storytelling, supported as always by the endless work of our technical and production teams. It hasn’t been without its hardships post-pandemic, but I think we have made something pretty great, and it has been a real joy to share that with you as we launch into an exciting 2023.

BUT! 2022 ain’t finished yet! We have been inundated with rave reviews for Ash Flanders’ End Of. This hilarious riot of a show must close on Saturday 5 November, and tickets are selling fast (as Box Office Manager I can say this with genuine sincerity—multiple shows have sold out through this week and next!). Why not wrap up the spooky season with a laugh and catch our final show at the SBW Stables Theatre this year?

The floodgates for 2023 Season subscriptions have opened and bookings for next year are flowing in. Our team is hard at work processing the subscriptions and our office is decorated top to bottom in posters, stickers, and our brand new 2023 Subscriber Cards. If you haven’t gotten around to it, now is the perfect time to get ready for next year and subscribe!

You can subscribe:

Subscribers that get in before midnight on Thursday 1 December will automatically go in the running for our Super Big Win prize valued at over $1200!

That’s all from me! Looking forward to seeing you in the foyer soon!

Happy trails,
Jackson
