Ticketing Information

Griffin Theatre Company is a member of Live Performance Australia and complies with the LPA Ticketing Code of Practice. Please click here to access a PDF of the Consumer Code. Any queries or complaints relating to the code can be made to Griffin at [email protected] or on (02) 9361 3817.

By purchasing from Griffin Theatre Company you are agreeing to be bound by the following terms:

    • Tickets will only be issued upon full payment.
    • There are no refunds on any ticket except as required by law.
    • Every patron must have a valid ticket; the right of admission is reserved by the Box Office staff at the venue.
    • Concession prices are available with a full-time student card, Centrelink Pensioner concession card or Veterans’ Affairs cards. Seniors prices are available with an Australian Government-issued Seniors Card.
    • Admittance to customers bearing tickets purchased at a discount price (Seniors, Concession, ‘Under 35s’) will only be upon presentation of relevant ID to Box Office staff prior to the performance. Failure to produce appropriate ID may result in the patron being charged full price for their ticket.
    • Latecomers will not be admitted until there is a convenient break in the program, if at all, and admission is at the discretion of the Box Office; refunds will not be issued to latecomers.
    • Tickets may be exchanged, with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice of either the performance being exchanged into or out of (whichever is the soonest) by calling the Box Office on (02) 9361 3817. Subscribers are entitled to unlimited free exchanges; exchanges of non-subscription tickets will incur an exchange fee.
    • Griffin reserves the right to vary advertised programs, to add, withdraw or substitute artists where necessary.
    • Gift Certificates are valid for three years from the date of purchase.
    • No recording devices of any kind are permitted in the auditorium.
Credit/Gift Certificates
  • Your Credit/Gift Certificates must be used within 3 years from the date of the generation. This date will be found in the confirmation email you received when purchasing. Any remaining balance will not be refunded or credited upon expiry If you unable to find this information, please contact our friendly Box Office team for assistance.
  • Credit/Gift Certificates are non-refundable.
  • Credit/Gift Certificates cannot be redeemed for cash.
  • Additional value cannot be added to an existing Gift Certificate; however, additional Gift Certificates may be purchased.
  • When paying for an order and the total exceeds the amount of your Credit/Gift Vouchers, you must pay for the remaining balance with another payment method (such as a debit or credit card) in order to complete the booking.
  • You cannot use your Credit/Gift Vouchers to make a donation however, you can make a donation alongside any transaction if you are paying with a Credit Voucher.
  • Griffin Theatre Company does not accept any liability for lost or stolen Vouchers.
  • If at any time you wish to learn more information about the redemption status of your Credit/Gift Vouchers on your account, please contact our friendly Box Office team.
  • Credit/Gift Vouchers are not valid for redemption for food, beverage or retail items.
Griffin Award

The prestigious Griffin Award recognises an outstanding play or performance text that displays an authentic, inventive and contemporary Australian voice. The winner will receive a full commission of $17,400 prize and dramaturgical support from the company.

To be eligible for the 2024 Griffin Award, the idea pitched must:  

  1. Be conceived as a full length play, of at least 60 minutes in length.
  2. Be unproduced and unpublished.
  3. Be unencumbered by current agreements for future production or publication.
  4. Not have been previously submitted for the Griffin Award or have been part of any of our other artistic programs.
  5. Be written by a playwright who is a citizen or permanent residentof Australia.

Entry terms and conditions: 

  1. Playwrights may submit only one (1) play idea for consideration.
  2. The decision of the judging panel is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  3. The work must be submitted electronically via entry form on the Griffin website.
  4. Griffin shall have worldwide license for the work at the conclusion of the commissioning process for a period of two years (24 months).
  5. Plays or performance texts submitted may be original ideas or adaptations from other forms providing that permission to adapt the material has been obtained from the copyright holder. The rights for all material in the work must be secured by the writer prior to entry. This includes any songs, poems or quotes.
  6. Due to the high volume of submissions, Griffin is not guaranteed to be able to supply feedback on submitted ideas.

In sending us your pitch documents and entry form you assure us that you have read the terms and conditions of entry for the 2024 Griffin Award.  

You declare your eligibility under the conditions and your agreement to the terms listed. You guarantee that the script is your original work, that it has never been produced for public performance and that you are the sole copyright holder of all material used. 

Entrants must submit via our online form by doing the following: 

  1. Enter your contact details on the online form. Please note this is for administrative purposes only, and your name and contact details will not be passed on to the judges.
  2. Complete our questions that provide information on your play.
  3. Provide an electronic copy of your CV—this will not be assessed in the initial stage of the judging process.
  4. There is an optional section where we ask for further information about you. This is kept anonymous and will not impact the outcomes of any decisions made by the Griffin Award readers and judges. This information is anonymised and is for Griffin’s reporting requirements for funding bodies.

Please do not print your name on the title page or anywhere on the idea or synopsis—entries are judged anonymously. 

Please submit your entry online via entry form on the Griffin website by midnight on 15 January 2024.

The winner will be announced alongside the Griffin Keynote Address on 28 July 2024.

 

Griffin's Super Big Win

1. Information on how to enter and the prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions of entry. Participation in this promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

3. Entry is open to residents of Australia who are 18 years old or older only.

4. Employees and their immediate families of the Promoter and agencies and companies associated with this promotion are not eligible to enter the promotion.

5. The competition commences at 10am AEST on Thursday 27 September 2024 and will close at 11.59pm AEDT on Sunday 7 January 2024 (Term).

6. You may enter the competition once.

7. To enter the competition, participants must book a minimum of one subscription to Griffin’s 2024 Season.

8. Entries to the competition are per transaction, not per subscription. For example, if you were to buy a subscription for both you and your partner in one transaction then you would go into the draw once.

9. If you buy a subscription for someone else as a gift, the purchaser (i.e. you), not the recipient, will go into the draw.

10. This a game of chance—the Prize Winner will be selected by random by a judge appointed by the Promoter.

11. The Major Prize comprises of:

13. The Promoter’s decision in relation to any aspects of the competition is final and binding on every person who enters and no correspondence will be entered into.

14. The winner will be notified via telephone and email and will be published on the Griffin website on Monday 2 December, 2024. Only the first name of the winner will be used in the announcement, and a photo of the winner with the prize will only be used if consented to by the winner.

15. The Promoter’s decision in relation to any aspects of the competition is final and binding on every person who enters and no correspondence will be entered into.

16. The Promoter and companies associated with this promotion will take no responsibility for missed ferries.

17. Entries are deemed to be received at the time of a Griffin 2025 subscription being purchased. The Promoter is not responsible for entries not received or the receipt of incorrect, inaccurate, or incomplete information caused by an entrant or occurring during transmission. The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone or computer network, line or server or internet provider, traffic congestion on any phone or computer network or any combination thereof.

18. If for any reason this promotion is cancelled or is not capable of running as planned, due to an intervention of any outside agent or event which naturally changes the result or prevents or hinders its determination, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strikes; the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the event and recommence it from the start on the same conditions subject to State Regulation.

19. In the event that for any reason whatsoever a winner does not take an element of the prize at the time stipulated by the Promoter then that element of the prize will be forfeited by the winner and cash will not be awarded in lieu of that element of the Prize.

20. The personal information you provide in entering this competition will be used by the Promoter to conduct the competition.

21. In case of an emergency Griffin Theatre Company will use the contact details supplied by you when entering this competition.
