SBW Stables Theatre
Opens one hour prior to every performance.
Unfortunately, the historic SBW Stables Theatre is not currently wheelchair accessible and may present challenges to people with limited mobility—there are 17 steps leading up to the theatre. The good news is that we’re changing this with our plans to redevelop the theatre. We can, however, reserve seating for people who have a vision impairment and/or those with limited mobility. If you have any questions regarding our theatre’s accessibility, please visit our website, or contact our Box Office team and we can talk through the options available to you or your theatre companion.
Griffin’s foyer and bar are both wheelchair accessible, and there is a wheelchair accessible bathroom on the ground floor. We can reserve seating for vision impaired people as well as those with limited mobility.
We also offer a closed captioned performance for every Main Season show in our season. The Griffin team is happy to assist you with your individual access needs—email us or give our Box Office a call to enquire.
Griffin is also a member of the Companion Card program. We also offer a captioned performance for hearing impaired patrons during each of our Main Season productions. To find out more, visit our Access page.
We believe that theatre should be financially accessible and our ever-popular subsidised ticket program, Monday Rush, gives audiences an opportunity to see Griffin productions at an accessible rate. Despite having some of the best mainstage theatre ticket prices in Sydney, we acknowledge that these prices are not feasible for all theatregoers. Every Monday at 12pm, an allocation of $25 Monday Rush tickets are released for a performance (or in the case of The Lewis Trilogy, multiple performances!) that week. These can be purchased online, or for those who are unable to book online, over the phone.
Amplify is Griffin’s audience development program, connected to two shows a year in our season. We engage leaders and consultants specific to the work we make to work with playwrights and creative teams to welcome new audiences to Griffin productions. We publicise the activations included in our Amplify program on our social channels.
