Dear Grif-friend,
Ang here—the Acting Marketing Manager at Griffin! I’m currently in a state of post-launch euphoria after having put together everything from the gorgeous Season imagery to the brochure to the psychedelic video content, all in collaboration with my colleague Sasha and our wonderful creative partners!
I am mildly (read: totally, utterly) obsessed with the look and feel of our 2023 Season—it’s like dessert for your eyeballs! It was so much fun dreaming up the design concept with Declan and Alphabet Studios, and I’m so thrilled that it’s finally out in the world! I think it’s a really great indication of the exciting, intoxicating year of new Australian plays ahead for Griffin—so if you like what you see, why not subscribe and save?
It’s never been easier to subscribe to Griffin! You can book:
- Online! Choose your package, add the plays you want to see, and BOOM!
- By downloading the Booking Form and emailing it to our Box Office! (This is really nerdy, but I spent ages making the Booking Form interactive so I hope you enjoy filling it out, dear potential subscriber!)
- By requesting a physical brochure and posting it to us, snail mail-style!
Speaking of Seasons—did a chill just run down your spine? Was that a black cat that walked across your path? Have you been eating a lot of pumpkin lately and you don’t know why? It’s SPOOKY SEASON! Americanised capitalist traditions aside, I do love me a themed month, and all around the Griffin office we’ve been feeling ooky-spooky in preparation for Halloween. Our resident orange kitty Spicy has been visiting the theatre more regularly, we’ve ordered some spooky cupcakes from our neighbours at Black Velvet, and we’re also scarily excited for End Of. by Ash Flanders to begin from this evening! (See what I did there?)
In all seriousness, I am ridiculously excited for audiences to see this show (which is Griffin’s final show for 2022, by the way!). Having Ash and director Stephen Nicolazzo around the theatre for the past week has been nothing short of a delight—with jokes being cracked at every turn and hilarious anecdotes entertaining the whole staff. Turns out Melburnians are ok! I was just privy to the final dress run of the show, and between you and me, it is going to be beautiful. Trick or treat yourself this Spooky Season and see End Of.
Aside from our 2023 Season and Spooky Season, it’s Griffin Studio Season! That’s right—Expressions of Interest are open for our 2023 cohort of early-career Studio artists. It’s an incredible artist development program where playwrights and theatremakers become embedded into the fold of our wonderful company for a whole year! If you like writing things or making things or performing things or all three, then what are you waiting for? Apply now!
I think that’s all from me! I hope to see you around the SBW Stables Theatre foyer sometime soon.
Stay groovy,
Ang
