A Note from Nathan, 27 January

27.01.23

Dear Grif-friend,

Hello! I’m Nathan Harrison, the Ticketing Administrator here at Griffin. I first came into the building as a Griffin Studio artist in 2021, and fell in love with the passion and energy of the whole company. It’s my pleasure to work on all things tickets and subscriptions with the rest of the ticketing team, including our unstoppable Administrator Kate Marks and outgoing Box Office Manager Jackson Used, who we will miss forever.

Like a lot of people, I’ve been packing too much into my January. I’ve been swimming at as many beaches as I can, and enjoying all the meats of our Summer cultural stew—galleries, Sydney Festival bangers and many Laneway sideshows.

Meanwhile, rehearsals have begun next door for Nicholas Brown’s far too sexy epic Sex Magick. I was lucky enough to read an early draft of this play during my Studio time and it completely blew me away. Some of my favourite Griffin plays are the ones that barely fit into our intimate little stage (thinking about Parliament House under siege in David Finnigan’s Kill Climate Deniers) and Sex Magick is going to be bursting at the seams in all the right ways. Make sure you book your tickets – it’s going to be wild.

If you’re booking in for Sex Magick, 2023 subscriptions are still the best way to get your tickets with loads of perks—discounts at the bar, free exchanges and more.

I hope you’re finding time to slow down and get grounded before the year gets too busy. Last weekend I spent a couple hours sitting in the shade next to my dog Ralph, listening to birds and revisiting Ameblin Kwaymullina’s Living On Stolen Land. I recommend it—Ralph has a pretty busy dance card but if you’ve got treats he’ll fit you in.

See you at the theatre!

Love,
Nathan
