A Note from Janine, 26 May

26.05.22

Hiya Grif-friend,

I’m Janine, and I’m over the moon to have joined the Griffin team as their new Programs Producer! Lately you can find me wrapped up in a blanket burrito at my desk in the Griffin office as I do my work. I spend my days making sure Griffin’s renowned creative programs (like Griffin Studio, Incubator Fellowship, and Griffin Award) are running on track. This includes things like creating contracts, schedules, budgets, planning creative developments and attending many exciting meetings with artists! We have some truly brilliant artists involved in the programs this year and I’m so excited to help them develop the groundbreaking projects they are creating.

Speaking of excitement… the whole of Griffin is buzzing with joy as we have finally opened Ghosting the Party to amazing reviews! It’s been a long road battling COVID-19 curveballs to bring this beautiful and hilarious play to you all and we couldn’t be prouder of the lovely, talented legends who made it happen. Ghosting the Party is a darkly funny exploration of mortality and womanhood that feels like a big warm hug and you only have until Saturday 18 June to catch it! So book your tickets to this ★★★★½ star show and get ready to laugh and cry with us.

Rolling right from one fantastic play to the next, Merlynn Tong’s Golden Blood has just started rehearsals, and seeing what they’ve already got cooking in the room, I can tell it’s gonna be a wild ride. A hilarious two-hander about the Singaporean underbelly? Sign me up! Tickets are already on sale so book now before they’re all snapped up!

As a company that champions new Australian work, it’s heartwarming to know we have so many Grif-friends backing us every step of the way. This End of Financial Year we need your help to make our stories bigger and better so we can keep delivering the best new Australian work to the stage! Every contribution makes a difference so if you love what we do, please make a tax-deductible donation today so we can keep staging big Australian stories in our little theatre on the hill.

That’s it from me—I’m off to see Ghosting the Party for a fourth time (it’s just TOO good). I hope you’re having a glorious evening enjoying the last few days of autumn.

Stay cosy,
Janine x
