Jeremy Allen is one of the finest working set designers in Australian theatre right now, and lucky for Griffin, he has designed the three plays of THE LEWIS TRILOGY.
For the final production in the SBW Stables Theatre as we know it, Jeremy was able to work outside of the constraints usually placed upon set design—for instance, he and the creative team peeled back decades upon decades of paint on the walls of the theatre, and exposed the original timber floorboards of the Stables.

Griffin is delighted to announce that Bedelia Lowrenčev is the recipient of the Accessible Arts NEXT LEVEL mentorship for 2024!

Bedelia will undertake up to 20 hours of one-on-one mentorship with Griffin's Artistic team as part of the mentorship. We're so thrilled to have them back at Griffin to develop their ideas!

Bedelia (they/she) is a groovy disabled actor, dancer, singer, agitator, theatre maker, producer and Access Coordinator, living and working on Wategoro and Wangal Land. Bedelia frequently collaborates with their Deaf twin Jeremy on their current work COLLISION, exploring the intersection of queerness, disability and deafness. Most recently, Bedelia was Assistant Producer for Raghav Handa’s THE ASSEMBLY at Campbelltown Arts Centre, the recipient of the Performing Lines NSW Producer Platform, Acceds Coordinator at Performance Space for Liveworks2023 and Griffin Studio Residency. Bedelia performed in COLLISION at Sydney WorldPride at PYT Fairfield, ANIMATE LOADING at Casula Powerhouse, Assistant Producer for Queer Nu Werks and the Griffin Theatre Fellowship the year prior. Presently, Bedelia is preparing for their performance at the Sydney Bienalle Festival, learning lines for the upcoming disabled led short film ‘Love, Lottie’, and keen to get cracking on their disabled musical spenanza with Griffin Theatre Company through this Next Level Creative Mentorship.

"For me it was quite nerve-wracking because the thing about the character Roy in COSÌ, who I play... that character was developed by Barry Otto, so whenever I think of that character, I always think of Barry Otto. His voice is so part of it for me. I have to find other ways of exploring this character, this man, this asylum, his quirks, his behaviour. I've gone for a more realistic, edgier, more unpredictable Roy."

'Roy' is one of the great Australian characters, originated by Barry Otto on stage and screen, and performed countless times by countless actors over the decades since Louis Nowra's COSÌ first premiered. In Griffin's epic production of THE LEWIS TRILOGY, the great Paul Capsis has found surprising new depths to the role and is a pure joy to watch.

Jeremy Allen is one of the finest working set designers in Australian theatre right now, and lucky for Griffin, he has designed the three plays of THE LEWIS TRILOGY.
For the final production in the SBW Stables Theatre as we know it, Jeremy was able to work outside of the constraints usually placed upon set design—for instance, he and the creative team peeled back decades upon decades of paint on the walls of the theatre, and exposed the original timber floorboards of the Stables.

The theatre's history is part of the production itself—hear from Jeremy about his vision for the SBW Stables Theatre's last hurrah.

Griffin is delighted to announce that Bedelia Lowrenčev is the recipient of the Accessible Arts NEXT LEVEL mentorship for 2024!

Bedelia will undertake up to 20 hours of one-on-one mentorship with Griffin's Artistic team as part of the mentorship. We're so thrilled to have them back at Griffin to develop their ideas!

Bedelia (they/she) is a groovy disabled actor, dancer, singer, agitator, theatre maker, producer and Access Coordinator, living and working on Wategoro and Wangal Land. Bedelia frequently collaborates with their Deaf twin Jeremy on their current work COLLISION, exploring the intersection of queerness, disability and deafness. Most recently, Bedelia was Assistant Producer for Raghav Handa’s THE ASSEMBLY at Campbelltown Arts Centre, the recipient of the Performing Lines NSW Producer Platform, Acceds Coordinator at Performance Space for Liveworks2023 and Griffin Studio Residency. Bedelia performed in COLLISION at Sydney WorldPride at PYT Fairfield, ANIMATE LOADING at Casula Powerhouse, Assistant Producer for Queer Nu Werks and the Griffin Theatre Fellowship the year prior. Presently, Bedelia is preparing for their performance at the Sydney Bienalle Festival, learning lines for the upcoming disabled led short film ‘Love, Lottie’, and keen to get cracking on their disabled musical spenanza with Griffin Theatre Company through this Next Level Creative Mentorship.

"For me it was quite nerve-wracking because the thing about the character Roy in COSÌ, who I play... that character was developed by Barry Otto, so whenever I think of that character, I always think of Barry Otto. His voice is so part of it for me. I have to find other ways of exploring this character, this man, this asylum, his quirks, his behaviour. I've gone for a more realistic, edgier, more unpredictable Roy."

'Roy' is one of the great Australian characters, originated by Barry Otto on stage and screen, and performed countless times by countless actors over the decades since Louis Nowra's COSÌ first premiered. In Griffin's epic production of THE LEWIS TRILOGY, the great Paul Capsis has found surprising new depths to the role and is a pure joy to watch.
