It’s Kate here, your Administration and Ticketing Co-ordinator, and you know what?! I dead set love jacaranda season. Sydney always puts on a great show this time of year.
As we look forward to the end of year: spending time with family, friends and the (hopeful) end of La-Niña, we’re also looking back on a very successful season here at Griffin. I couldn’t be more proud of the shows we’ve put on this year, from the uplifting A is for Apple, to the heart-wrenching Whitefella Yella Tree and the hilarious End Of. It’s truly such a privilege to work in, as our beloved former Artistic Director Ros Horin called it, ‘the theatre of first chances’.
Speaking of first chances, applications for our Griffin Ambassadors program for 2023 have officially opened! If you have any young people in your life, who are in Years 10-12 and have a love of drama, theatre-making (or even just theatre-going) tell them to apply! Ambassadors meet students from other schools, attend workshops, get free tickets to each Main Season show in 2023 AND exclusive access to a post-show forum with the casts and creatives. The program is perfect for any budding creative who wants insight into the industry. The application is quick, simple and they can apply right here.
Coming up, we have our 2023 Season Briefing happening THIS weekend! If you’ve got a friend who is interested in our theatre on the hill and is looking for a year of amazing shows, this is the time to bring them so that we can chat about all things 2023. Is it just me, or does a theatre subscription make a great Christmas present?! We have two afternoon sessions at 1pm and 3pm—both with a stellar line up of artists: at 1pm we’ll have the delightful Nicholas Brown (Sex Magick), Briallen Clarke (Pony) and Stephanie Somerville (Blaque Showgirls); and then at 3pm: Eloise Snape (Pony), Solomon Thomas (UFO & Sex Magick), and Catherine Văn Davies (Sex Magick).
