5 Questions with The Feisty Women of Oz

04.04.19

Don’t Knock Your Granny shines a light on something not often visible—the issues of the elderly in our community—and brings it front and centre on stage. The Feisty Women of Oz (otherwise known as the Older Women’s Network Theatre Group) answered some questions for the Griffin blog ahead of their much-anticipated show at Batch Festival 2019.

1. Introduce the show and something that audiences might not know about it.

Don’t Knock Your Granny packed the theatre to standing ovations at their Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2018 debut. Debutante performers ranged between 60 and 90 years of age. Bar sales exceeded the Fringe venue’s expectations and may have been a record for the daytime hours.

2. Paint us a picture of your show in 5 words.

Feisty fabulous fun; searingly serious.

3. What was the inspiration behind the creation of your show?

To bring the issues of family violence and the abuse of older women out from behind the curtains and into the spotlight.

What are you most looking forward to about bringing your show to Batch Festival 2019 at Griffin?

To reach wider audiences in an established theatre.

5. Which other shows are you hoping to catch at Batch?

All of them! The Older Women’s Network Theatre Group has diverse tastes and we have enough members to be able see all of the shows.
