Sal was once an award-winning investigative journalist and author, uncovering government corruption and public scandals. Two years ago, her son’s death robbed her of a willingness to engage and her ability to question. Now, as she comes to terms with her loss, her teenage daughter Beck brings home Taka, a Japanese surfer, to stay with them. Sal is unsettled by his reclusive behaviour and unexplained past. When her calculating brother visits with his new younger girlfriend, Sal is awakened to a sense of danger she had long forgotten.
