To note, these workshops are not mandatory to submit for the Griffin Award (we welcome all submissions!), but the workshops *will* give you that competitive edge to your application.

Griffin is thrilled to share that we are the recipients of an almost $5 million grant as part of the Australian Government’s Thriving Suburbs program, which means that our major building redevelopment is fully green lit.

This is a massive moment for Griffin and new Australian storytelling, as we set out to create a fit-for-purpose home for artists and those with a story to share.

Thank you to the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon. Catherine King and Federal Member for Sydney, Tanya Plibersek for taking the time to join us at the SBW Stables Theatre and celebrate this occasion with us.

The incredible company of GOLDEN BLOOD, @merlynntong, @charles.z.wu, @jenmsj, @tlong_unofficial celebrated their 100th performance last night with our friends at @melbtheatreco.

It is not often that a new Australian play reaches this milestone and GOLDEN BLOOD’s 100th performance is a testament to the power of authentic, fresh storytelling and we could not be prouder.

Congratulations to Merlynn and all the creatives who have poured their hearts into this beautiful work since 2020 (two setbacks won’t stop us from celebrating!)—it is incredible to see how far GOLDEN BLOOD has come since its premiere in 2022.

Here’s to many more years of Australian stories.

Griffin is on the hunt for theatre-loving folk to join us in the roles of Marketing and Content Producer, Ticketing Manager and Production Manager.

The Marketing and Content Producer (part-time) plays a vital role in the small but mighty Marketing team. The Marketing and Content Producer will be a whiz at copywriting, creative briefing, video editing (among other things) and assists with development and roll out of marketing strategies. The Marketing and Content Producer also assists with delivering Griffin's exciting annual Season.

The Ticketing Manager (full-time) is responsible for the development, implementation and management of Griffin’s customer services and ticketing policies and systems, and the smooth operation of Griffin’s box office. The Ticketing Manager is also responsible for leading the ticketing of Griffin’s annual Seasons.

We are also recruiting a full-time Production Manager. This role is responsible for delivering the production requirements of Griffin’s Main Season productions and development projects, and managing the day-to-day operations of the company in relation to production. Expressions of interest for seasonal Production Managers are also open.

In 2025, we’re looking for another batch of playwrights to join us for a one year residency as part of our Griffin Studio.

Griffin Studio is one of the longest-running artists programs in Australia, with a proven track record of incubating the boldest and most important, new stories and bringing them to life on the stage.

Award Season is a moment where dreams come true. The Oscars recognise the best in film, the Tonys applaud excellence on Broadway—and the Griffin Award celebrates outstanding new ideas for plays or performances that speak to who we are.

A celebration of playwrights for over 25 years, the prestigious Griffin Award has given Australian playwrights a way to turn their ideas into plays. With dramaturgical support from Griffin to develop their play in-house, and a full commission of $17,400, the winner of the Griffin Award 2025 will see their stories and dreams come alive.

If you’re not sure where to begin, we’ve got you covered with a suite of online workshops to help you build your pitch, starting with a workshop on 13 November with Griffin Literary Associate and award winning playwright, Julian Larnach!

CALLING ALL PLAYWRIGHTS AND THEATREMAKERS 📢 📢 📢

In 2025, we’re looking for another batch of playwrights to join us for a one year residency as part of our Griffin Studio.

Griffin Studio is one of the longest-running artists programs in Australia, with a proven track record of incubating the boldest and most important, new stories and bringing them to life on the stage.

Former alumni of Griffin Studio include Meyne Wyatt (CITY OF GOLD), Kirsty Marillier (ORANGE THROWER) and Dylan Van Den Berg (WHITEFELLA YELLA TREE).

Over 2025, successful applicants will develop a new work, supported by Griffin’s Artistic team, whilst partaking in workshops that will enrich their playwriting and theatremaking abilities.

It’s such a privilege for us to be able to work with Griffin Studio alums Michelle Lim Davidson (KOREABOO) and Nathan Harrison (BIRDSONG OF TOMORROW) to bring their Studio work to the stage as part of Griffin’s 2025 Season—and we can’t wait to work with you too!
