About

Australian playwright Suzie Miller’s razor-sharp writing has found extraordinary success around the world. The original Australian production of her acclaimed one-woman play Prima Facie returns in a true homecoming, starring Sheridan Harbridge and directed by Lee Lewis.

Tessa is a confident criminal defence barrister who thrives in the courtroom. She believes in the rules, in the discipline of evidence, and in the idea that the law can deliver justice if you know how to work it. That certainty fractures when an unexpected event forces her onto the other side of the witness box, and the system she once trusted becomes a process she must endure.

As Tessa navigates the processes she once championed, she confronts the law’s power and its blind spots firsthand. The courtroom shifts from a place of control to a place of exposure, where truth is negotiated through procedure and persuasion, and lived experience struggles to fit the language of proof.

Presented by Griffin Theatre Company and Andrew Henry Presents, this landmark production reunites Harbridge and Lewis for strictly limited seasons in Melbourne and Sydney.

Seen by over 1.2 million people worldwide, Prima Facie is 90 minutes of emotionally gripping theatre that stays with you long after the final moment.
