2018 Special Events

We’ve wrapped a year of very special Special Events around our 2018 Main Season.

Following the outrageous success of The Literati in 2016, playwright Justin Fleming and Lee Lewis reunite to satirise polite society in The Misanthrope, and in their capable hands Molière’s comic masterpiece couldn’t be more Sydney. It’s got all the social climbers, sycophants and hypocrites that keep our ‘Emerald City’ functioning.

Melbourne and Adelaide Fringe award-winning hit FAG/STAG is a brutally honest exploration of contemporary masculinity from two of Australia’s sharpest young writer-performers Jeffrey Jay Fowler and Chris Isaacs.

Playwright and author Hannie Rayson brings her comedic one-woman show to Griffin. Directed by Matthew Lutton and featuring select stories from her acclaimed novel Hello, Beautiful!, Rayson shares tales from an adventurous life to seek out the extraordinary in the everyday.

Anthony Skuse directs Jessica Bellamy in her unique (and not so traditional) dinner-turned-performance where the rituals and customs of a Shabbat Dinner are recreated in a celebration of culture and togetherness.

In The Smallest Hour, two of Sydney’s most-loved raconteurs—Susie Youssef and Phil Spencer—perform their richly-woven romantic comedy about broken dreams, second chances and velcro pants.
