Individual Giving

Working out of the iconic and intimate SBW Stables Theatre means that box office income can’t cover the cost of putting on our productions and running our artistic development and community programs. Because of this, we depend on the generosity of individual patrons to keep the company going.

Who gives: People who share our passion for new Australian stories and nurturing the artists who create them. Click here to see a list of our current supporters.

How much: Anything from $2 to $50,000. Gifts come in all shapes and sizes, they all make a difference, and they are all tax deductible.

What happens next: We hold regular events to bring our donors closer to the company.

  • If you donate $100 or more to Griffin, you’ll receive regular invitations to attend our ‘Inside the Rehearsal Room’ events where you’ll meet the actors and learn more about our productions.

  • Donate $200 or more and your name will be included on play programs and on our acknowledgement board in the Stables Foyer.

  • Donate $1,000 and you’ll be invited to our season launch and other Griffin special events.

  • Our major donors (>$4,000) are also invited to all of our Main Season opening nights.

What do we do: More than you would imagine! Donations make possible a broad range of programs and activities, including:

- The commissioning of new work;
- Workshops and readings of scripts in development;
- Artist residencies providing skills development and pathways to creating main stage work;
- Griffin Ambassadors: free theatre tickets and workshops for year 10 to 12 students;
- The Griffin Award: one of the country’s most prestigious playwriting competitions; and
- Free performances for local community and welfare groups.
