A Message from Karen Rodgers

Last week was huge for the team at Griffin and we are all thrilled to have 2016 successfully launched! The subscriptions are rolling in and don’t forget if you’re interested in our Earlybird Subscription (four Plays for $136), this offer ends on 21 September, so get in quick.

I’m sure that by now most of you have seen the detail of our 2016 season, but if you haven’t, check out our fabulous season trailer. We’re so proud of this clip, created by our amazing design agency Re:, with music by Steve Toulmin. Obviously others think it’s pretty special too given the number of views, so get on and help us break our record of hits from 2015.

I also hope that you are enjoying Griffin’s new look newsprint brochure. This broadsheet format provided the space for us to showcase the fantastic talent of our amazing photographer Brett Boardman. You can still request a brochure, just email your details to [email protected].

Back at the Stables we are (scarily) sprinting towards the end of 2015. Anna Barnes’ disturbing and brilliant new play MinusOneSister opens this week. I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peak in the rehearsal room and if you are up for a spine tingling night in the theatre then this is one for you.  It is also an opportunity to be thrilled by this vibrant young cast, many of whom are new to the Griffin stage. The Witches, this time starring Scott Sheridan, opens at Parramatta Riverside this week. This return season marks the end of a fantastic touring year for this work including seasons in Western Australia and Tasmania.

A Rabbit for Kim Jong-il is also in rehearsal. I have no doubt that Lee, Kit and this amazing cast are hurtling us towards yet another fabulous night on the Stables stage. The bits that I have seen are already shaping up to be lots of fun. What a way to be racing towards the end of the year. I look forward to seeing you there.

Cheers,

Karen
